Fine dining with small children?

eternalclutz asked:

My family has an upcoming celebratory dinner. The restaurant my mom chose is pretty fancy. Whenever I’ve eaten there, it’s been mostly couples out on a romantic evening together.

The problem is our kids. I have a 1 year old. My brother has a 3 year old and a 6 month old. When these kids get together, they are loud. Not to mention, my child doesn’t yet have acceptable dining out skills (throws food, wants to run, etc.).

I told my mom that I won’t take my child to that restaurant. I feel it would be rude to the other patrons. She was upset but said that I could come without the kid in tow. I suggested a different restaurant but was turned down. So I agreed to leave my kid at home. No big deal.

Problem is, my brother has no intention of leaving his own kids at home. I still insist on not joining my family at the restaurant if there will be kids there.

This will be the last family dinner together for a long time, and it’s really important to my mom. Am I being unreasonable?

playdate and wine (the today show)?

iowanhotti asked:

i am just looking for opinions from anyone and everyone involving this matter. i noticed that this morning they brought up tha fact that some parents have a glass of wine during diner which would b almost the same as having a glass during a playdate. some say its wrong to have a drink during a playdate and others say its okay. i truely do not think that it should be as big of a deal as it has become considering the fact that there are parents who go out to diner and then drive with their children in the car after having a drink or two. i cant see that play date moms are jumping into a car with their children as soon after their drink as parents who are out to diner. just looking for opinions and they are all welcome:)

What is the most inexpensive spyware to monitor my teen?

Posted on timeApril 9th, 2009 by userpcgumban    flag(16) Comments

Worried MOM asked:

I have an almost 16 year old daughter. She has a MySpace account and several emails as well as AIM IMing account. Last year she started being sneaky and lying about things so I try to monitor her computer time to keep an eye on what she is up to. The computer is located in the dining room, she only gets an hour of computer time a day and I sit at the dining room table while she is on the computer. She has been IMing someone and I am concerned it is someone older and possibly dangerous for her. When I google spyware, most sites deal with keeping spyware off computers. I need a good inexpensive spyware that will help me monitor what she is IMing and what the person is typing back. Please help.

b zealous asked:

When he does this at home I usually mention his time out chair and maybe, just maybe that will do the trick, but in public nothing seems to work. Being that even a little ***** on the **** or hand will cause people to glare at me, I feel helpless in this situation. Im asking because im tierd of having to leave movies, dining out, and sporting events. Ugh!! How do YOU deal?
