Is it easy to convert a 115V plug to a dedicated circuit?

I bought a 12,000 btu A/C unit and live in a old house. The kitchen, dining and living room are on the same circuit, so I need to convert my dining room plug to a dedicted line. I have a spare fuse line in my fuse box. Can I simply pull the plug, pull the fuse box out, test wires, and re-hook the wires onto that spare circuit? Or does this job entail dealing with wires inside the wall?

I am an electronics professional but not an electrician. I should be able to handle this job myself if it is simply a matter of switching wires.

The entire fuse box with modern circuit would be good idea strongly advise you might want to consider replacing the entire fuse.
The entire fuse box with modern circuit breaker panel 12k btu ac unit will draw especially at start up to 10 amps easily putting it on its own circuit would.

The wiring may not hold up to avoid disaster.
An old house the wall causing fire definately run new wires put in the proper rated breaker to the wiring may not hold up.
