Where are some of the best restaurants or bars in Orlando for a college student to get a job behind the bar?

I’ve got about 3 years experience (prep cook, dishwasher, bus boy, and finally server) in the service industry. I tried getting a job at nightclubs here, but not only do they all require a few months as a busser/”clean up” before you can be a barback, but most Orlando clubs pale in comparison to Fort Lauderdale. So, because I really want to go back to UCF, I’m willing to bypass my hatred of serving food.

The thing is, I want to only serve food at the bar.

I know that most restaurants don’t have barbacks, they just train bartenders if they’re unexperienced. That’s how a lot of my friends became bartenders. I just don’t want to be in a too kid friendly place, something like Alehouse or a Sports Bar.

So for all my non-Orlando residents, where would you say are the best large chain restaurants to get a bar position at? What’s required to get to the bar position once hired?

And for all the Orlando residents, where would you guys say is the best bar/rest to work?

Val
