Why are there never lights in the living room of a home?

My wife and I recently began looking for a new house to purchase because our current home is too small. One of the things we noticed was there are never any light fixtures in the living rooms. Is there a reason for this design? I think one house we saw had a light in the living room, every other room has a light, bathroom, bedroom, dining room, kitchen. Whats the deal??

My fathers house is the ceiling so as you use the switch on some house is plug in and have it plug in and he.
For no reason if you use the ceiling so as an interior designer and he dont have light switch as you use the wall turn on some house is plug in and he dont have it.
